Website
We clicked on the shop tab and was shown 6 sub-tabs for products. We clicked on Organic vitamins and minerals. When on that page we clicked on Organic on-the-go nutrition and it said no products were found matching the selection. Why do they have a product tab with nothing in it? Also there are 6 sub-tabs under the shop tab, there are only 5 products. So that’s a waste of space. Once you go into the FAQ page, there is no button that allows you to go back to the main home page. You have to press the back button or you have to type in the website address again. They do have quite a lot of great blog posts, recipes, and 2 free e-books you can access by subscribing to their newsletter.
Catalog
We bought the Purefood A to Z. That seemed like their best unisex product for overall health. They have 5 food products with 5 bundle options. This is a great catalog. The fewer products a business sells the better. If you need to buy 10 vitamins to get everything you need, there is something wrong. Businesses have been able to create multivitamins that give you almost everything you need. So the more products they sell, the more money they are trying to make and the less they care about the customer.
Packaging Information
The nutrition label is shown, but there are no direct photos of the nutrition label. The serving size is 2 tsp (as shown on the nutrition label). Since there are no direct pictures of the nutrition label or even the back of the jar, not much information is given on the packaging. Finally, when we got the actual product delivered to us, we got to see the label. The label is strange because while they do give percentages they don’t give amounts.
Customer Service
They offer a 45-day money-back guarantee. They list 2 phone numbers, an email, and a “submit an inquiry” section. Their website shows hundreds of 5-star reviews, but amazon shows 5 ratings with an average rating of 3.2. It seems fishy and it is. They use a review platform called Yotpo. Yotpo allows the owner to delete or “reject” reviews. As an owner of a business, you can alter your overall score by just rejecting bad reviews. We submitted an inquiry and also sent them a direct message over Instagram on Friday. They responded the Monday after we sent in our questions. They avoided answering our questions about how their product is made. They gave us the same vague answer 2 times. But at least they responded. They also have Facebook and Twitter.
Quality
They claim to be organic, non-GMO, vegan, gluten-free, add no synthetic nutrients, no added fillers, no artificial sweeteners, colors, or flavors. They get their products third-party tested to look for microbials (harmful bacteria, yeast, mold), pathogens (salmonella, e.coli), and heavy metals (mercury, arsenic, cadmium, and lead). They say when customers first start using this product they may experience, “some cleansing/detox symptoms such as loose bowel movements, headaches, and mild digestive discomfort”. That is kind of fishy because real fruits and vegetables don’t give you headaches when you eat them. They said this about their ingredients and how they are made, “Each one may be processed in a slightly different way and the exact methods are considered proprietary, but in general they are dried, concentrated, and ground into powders.” Proprietary? They literally can’t tell us how they dry their ingredients? It seems very fishy. In fairness, they don’t juice and claim to use the whole plant. It seems like good stuff, but the overall secrecy and weird warnings make us think otherwise.
Price
It’s actually cheaper to buy it off of Amazon than off of their website, which is a first. Amazon $64.99 + $12.99 shipping = $77.98 Pranin Organic website $83.99 + $10.00 shipping= $93.99 you can pay flat rate shipping which is $10.00 or USPS express shipping which is $55.00. Wow.
Product
The powder itself is brown. It looks like it should smell and taste like chocolate. We were disappointed to find that it definitely did not taste like chocolate powder. When we mixed the powder into water we could see little pieces of colorful ingredients. It has a healthy food taste, like any green powder you would buy at any health food store. It has somewhat of a natural taste as well. Jolly Green Giant didn’t hate it, but it wasn’t tasty at all.
Experience
Sunflower the Kid and Jolley Green Giant both took 2 teaspoons every day for 10 days and recognized no change, positive or negative. It was not a yummy 10-day experience.
Recommendation
Since we recognized no change, we do not recommend this product.
