Getting grapefruits.

Most of the grapefruits you eat are grown in Florida and Texas and can usually be found in stores all year long. However, they are best from about November through April! Wonderful Citrus explains exactly how to select the perfect grapefruit:

  • Select a firm and heavy grapefruit
  • Make sure there are no soft spots or wrinkles
  • Check for a good, sweet scent
  • It’s okay for it to have discoloration or blemishes because those do not affect the inside fruit

Eating grapefruits.

Some people like to just peel a grapefruit and eat it like an orange, but honestly, we think they are crazy! Here is what we recommend:

  • Put on salad
  • Add to tarts, cakes, and pies
  • Pair with shrimp
